The Guazabara Foundation

Governance

How the Foundation is run.

The Foundation answers to the communities it serves. This page states how it is governed and how participants are protected.

Governance

How decisions are made.

  • A Board of Directors governs the Foundation under its bylaws.
  • The Board has adopted a Conflict of Interest Policy. A director with an interest in a matter discloses it and does not vote on it.
  • The Foundation is funded by the State of New Jersey.

Participant information

What the Foundation records, and who sees it.

  • What is recorded

A name or chosen display name, attendance, the topics covered, commitments the participant chooses to make, and facilitator notes.

  • How it is used

Only to run the program. Reports to funders carry numbers and outcomes. They carry no names and nothing that identifies a participant.

  • Who sees it

Facilitators and Foundation program administrators. The Foundation does not sell participant information. It does not share it with immigration authorities, landlords, employers, or law enforcement, except where the law requires.

  • The limits

New Jersey law requires a report when there is reasonable cause to believe a child has been abused or neglected. The Foundation acts when someone is in immediate danger of serious harm. It complies with a court order after seeking every available protection.

  • Participant rights

A participant may ask to see their information, ask to correct it, withdraw at any time, and ask that it be deleted, except where the law or a funder requires a record.

Photographs

Consent, every time.

The Foundation photographs participants only with separate permission, given each time. Saying no does not affect participation.
